1. When are registrations due?
Registrations are due by December 1,
2009.
2. What types of activities will the Brownies and Sparks do?
It’s a surprise! Activities will include crafts, games, songs, campfire, active living, service – the sky’s the limit!
3. When is a Spark a Spark?
The level of each girl is the level that they have just completed, not the level they are moving into in the fall. It isn’t fair to ask girls to camp with Guiders they have never met.
4. Can Sparks sleep over with the Brownies?
Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate Sparks overnight. Each level will be doing age-appropriate activities and there just have to be activities for the girls to look forward to when they move up.
5. Will the two Brownie camps have the same program?
No, there will be different programs for both Brownie camps as we anticipate that some girls will attend both camps.
6. Which Brownie camp should I choose?
Both Brownie camps will have great programs. However, the first camp will end at approximately 4:00 in the Afternoon. The second camp will not end until after the closing ceremonies - after 8:00 in the evening. Parents will be invited to attend a BBQ and the closing ceremonies.
7. Can we accommodate an out-of-town Brownie unit that arrives Saturday evening?
Yes, we can arrange for a hall for a sleepover but each unit will be responsible for their own Safe Guide paperwork and food until the bus arrives the next morning to take the girls to camp.
8. Can we accommodate Brownies who want to stay overnight on Friday night after the closing ceremonies?
Any out-of-town Brownie units that want to stay in Kamloops on Friday night will have to find their own accommodation and breakfast. They will also be responsible for their own Safe Guide paperwork for any activities following the closing ceremonies.
9. Why don’t the Brownie forms have room for only 5 girls for ratio?
It would have been more straightforward if we had only 5 Brownies per sheet. However, there are 8. We anticipate that many units will have more than 5 Brownies attending. The bottom line is that you must provide ratio no matter how many Brownies attend the camp.
10. Will Guides and Pathfinders have a choice of activities?
Our camp will be similar to SOAR. Guides and Pathfinders will be sent program choices in 2010 and we will try to honour their choices wherever possible.
11. Will the Rangers have their own special off-site camp?
Yes, there will be an exciting 3-day, 2-night camp just for Rangers.
12. If adults volunteering for core staff can only help out during the day, are they welcome?
Yes, we have many duties such as program or QM for Sparks where help is required between 8:30 am and approximately 4:00 pm. Please submit a core staff application with your availability noted.
13. If adults can’t attend all week, can they be of help?
We can always use your help but we will need a commitment to dates and times in order to schedule other staff to cover the whole camp.
14. If I do not have a full patrol of 8 girls, do I still have to pay $2,600?
Please send your deposit of $200 with your registration. We will put partial patrols together and then request $2,600 for the whole patrol. Invoices will be sent to each unit for their portion of the payment. Our objective is to end up with full patrols for Guides and Pathfinders. Half patrols of Rangers are welcome.
15. Can I switch Guiders for a patrol part way through the week?
Yes, if your unit does not have a Guider available for the full week, two or more Guiders may switch part way through.
16. Do I have to have 2 Guiders for each patrol or can parents help to cover ratio?
Each patrol must have one registered Guider but may have parents in place of a second Guider. All parent volunteers must have submitted a Police Records Check and be registered as a non-member. They must complete an A7 form which is submitted to your Area iMIS Adviser. If they ask the District Commissioner for a letter to the RCMP, there is no charge for the PRC. This should be done as soon as possible to avoid
problems with missing paperwork prior to camp. |
