Core Staff Job Categories

 

FOOD SERVICES

Sites: Food will be distributed from a central point to the sites. We need volunteers to portion food for sites, distribute food to the sites and the staff cafeteria, unload trucks, organize and help with filling totes and help with other related duties. Some heavy lifting is involved.

Staff Cafeteria: Volunteers needed to help prepare, cook and serve meals to core staff. FOODSAFE certificate is an asset.

Spark and Brownie Meals: Volunteers needed to help prepare snack & lunches for the Sparks (they are there on a daily basis) prepare, cook and serve meals for the Brownies (they will be attending camp from Sunday to Friday).

HEALTH SERVICES

Providing health care and first aid for girls and adults. RNs, LPNs and qualified First Aiders are required to work in shifts.

SITE SERVICES/RECYCLING

People needed who don’t mind hard work and getting dirty as you clean portapotties, supervise garbage, recycling and water supply. A clean camp is essential to provide a healthy environment for the girls and Guiders. Come prepared to have fun!

TRANSPORTATION

Volunteers will check off groups as they arrive to catch buses and ensure that they board in a safe manner. You will also be required to direct traffic in the bus loading area.

PUBLIC RELATIONS

If computers are your thing, this is the place for you. We need two people who can help with newsletters, photocopying and communications. Please include details of your computer skills.

PROGRAM

Volunteer to help in a variety of program areas. Let us know your interests and expertise in the program area you are applying for.
CRAFTS: If you’re a crafty person this is the place to be. Help the girls as they make themed crafts.

FINE ARTS:
If you like arts, music and drama come and help the girls as they discover their artistic talents.

FITNESS: This is an important aspect of our programs and the girls will have a variety of opportunities that they can take part in. Help us encourage the girls to live a healthy lifestyle.

ACTIVE LIVING: Archery, Ultimate Frisbee, Disc Golf and Canoeing are just a few of the options in this section. Haven’t tried it before, come along and take part along with the girls.

ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE: If you’re concerned about our environment, help increase the girls’ knowledge of this vital subject through fun activities.

SERVICE: A chance for our girls to give back to the community. Help them find the satisfaction in providing service to others.

SPARK AND BROWNIE PROGRAM

The Sparks from Thompson Nicola will have the option to attend on a daily basis from Monday to Friday. Their program will include activities both on and off site.
For the Brownies we will run two 3-day camps. The first group will come in on Sunday and leave Tuesday afternoon. The second group will come in Wednesday and leave on Friday evening. They will also have the option to attend both sessions. Their program will also include activities both on and off site. They will sleep in a residential setting.
If you would like to help out with one of these groups you may sign up for the entire session or on a daily basis.

SENIOR BRANCHES PROGRAM

If you like to work with girls 15 – 18 join them on a 3-day trip to an alternate site where they will get to take part in some more adventurous activities.

SPECIAL EVENTS:

Help our Special Events co-ordinators with all the details they need to complete to put on a show this size. This would include emcees, stage hands, helping with opening and closing ceremonies, campfires, international night, etc. If you like being creative this could be the place for you.
